GGF Getting Ready for GDPR

GGF Getting Ready for GDPR

Next year on the 25th May, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) becomes law and it will affect every company in the UK who controls or processes personal data and sensitive personal data

The full regulatory framework has yet to be unveiled and the government is currently putting the full legislation together ready for May next year. The penalties for non-compliance are likely to be significant (with fines expected to be up to 2% of turnover) so it is advisable for all companies are ready for the change and comply with the new legislation.

With approximately 7 months until the law is enacted, the GGF has already commissioned a GDPR expert to ensure all the GGF systems and processes are up to date and comply with the legislative changes.

For its Members, the GGF has also scheduled a GDPR expert to present at the next meeting of the Window and Door Group and Conservatory Association on Thursday 25th January at 10.30am at The Arden Hotel, Solihull, West Midlands. Following the presentation, the expert presenter will take any questions on the subject from Members.

In addition, the GGF will host a special marketing and communications workshop led by Graham Hansell, Chartered Institute of Marketing Digital Course Director, for all those Members with marketing and communications staff who may be concerned about the new legislation and its impact from a marketing communications perspective.

Given the significance of this new legislation, the GGF is expecting a higher than normal attendance at the next Joint Window and Door Group and Conservatory Association meeting in Solihull. If you wish to attend this meeting please email Bridie Joyce bjoyce@ggf.org.uk to confirm your place.

More details will be sent out later in the year on the GDPR Marketing workshop which will be held at the GGF offices in early March.

In the meantime, the GGF advises all Members to read up on this new law by going to the ICO (Information Commissioning Office) website
