Help to Showcase the Glass and Glazing Industry at a Building Our Skills Career Fair: 50 Careers in One Day
The GGF are pleased to be able to offer our full, committed support to Building Our Skills – Making Fenestration, Glass and Glazing a Career of Choice and their campaign to successfully take our industry to the education sector, as the starting point for creating a workforce of tomorrow.
In March 2024 Building Our Skills (BOS) will host two dedicated industry careers fairs for the education sector as a part of National Careers Week, designed to showcase the extensive range of career options in the Fenestration, Glass and Glazing industry. Working in conjunction with South Yorkshire and Greater Manchester Combined Education Authorities to bring these two events to fruition, with the target audience being school age children 14+.
The Aims
The aim of these fairs is to introduce the industry to over 1,000 school children over the course of the two events. If successful, these two regional events will be hosted annually enabling BOS to keep in touch with attendees as they get closer to thinking about their career choices.
Showcasing the Industry Together
Accordingly, exhibitors will be highlighting the following values in the build up to, and on the day of the events:
- As a truly diverse industry open to everybody
- The industry as being aware of and committed to its environmental responsibilities
- Supportive of training, qualifications and career progression
- Leading the way in terms of innovation and the use of technology

You Can Get Involved Too!
In partnership with industry experts and collaborators, Building Our Skills intend to showcase 50 distinct career options that are available within the Fenestration, Glass and Glazing industry.
The two events will be at the Barnsley FC Oakwell Stadium on 5th March 2024 and at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester on 7th March. The events will be open 9am.
There’s no cost to be an ‘exhibitor’ at these events. Ideally, industry colleagues will come together to help showcase the industry as an outstanding place for young people to forge a career. We’re asking employers to give up their time and energy now, to help attract and benefit from a new workforce in years to come.
