Once again in 2019, The GGF is supporting the Construction Marketing Awards – a great celebration of marketing talent across the industry. The awards are for everyone, with entries invited from any team or individual responsible for marketing and / or business development strategy within the Construction and Built Environment supply chain. This includes companies involved in materials supply or manufacture, building or infrastructure design, build, maintenance, engineering, consulting service or solutions provider in the Built Environment sector.

On the GGF’s endorsement of the awards, James Lee, GGF Director of External Affairs commented, “We are delighted to support and promote these awards to our industry which has many exceptional marketers. I encourage all those who have planned and implemented successful marketing campaigns in the last 12 or so months, to enter and get their outstanding work recognised at the Construction Marketing Awards.”

Entering is simple, you don’t need to engage an agency to help you, you just need to set aside some time.

In 2018 of the 20 non-agency categories, 8 of the winners did not have the support of an agency in the entry process. This included a record 3 categories won by Jewson.

Why enter?

Feedback from entrants tells us that they select the Construction Marketing Awards because of their reputation in the industry. By entering an awards competition, and then being recognised, it acknowledges what the team has done and also provides a benchmark against others in the industry. We have also been told by winners that they used the credibility gained from their win to justify future marketing budgets and strategies.

If your entry is good enough to be shortlisted there is the opportunity to attend the Gala Dinner in London on 28^th November 2019. This is a great night out for the team, with the excitement of perhaps becoming a winner. But beside a possible win, it also showcases what other marketing teams have achieved – encouraging your team and providing inspiration for your future marketing activity.  

A simple to use entry system

The online entry system uses software specifically designed for awards entries and has been tailored for the Construction Marketing Awards. It is intuitive, with entrants able to save and come back to complete their online entry form in stages.

This stop-start approach to completing your entry allows you to plan completing your entry around a busy schedule. You can start your entry, save and come back to it. You can create more than one entry for more than one category in parallel and upload multiple files to support your entry.

There are guidance notes against each field, to help you complete your entry and the system allows you to upload supporting material in multiple file formats. And as well as these guidance notes we also provide a whole wealth of other support materials to help you make the most of your entry.

Making the best of your entry

It’s surprising how many entries get rejected because they do not follow the Rules of Entry. This document holds all the relevant information in one place. You can download it, save it, print it, scribble on it and use it as your crib sheet to check you have met all the criteria the judges will be looking for.

Start your entry now!

Treat your entry like any other marketing campaign – Putting together a good award entry takes time and effort. Remember, your entry will be reviewed by a group of experienced judges. Consider how you will get their attention, attract their interest, make them want to read your material, and convince them to give you an award.

The Construction Marketing Awards are £50 + VAT per entry and entries are now OPEN. The deadline for entries is Friday 20th September 2019.

Material referenced should have been completed between June 2018 and August 2019.

The GGF has once again agreed to host the UK Pavilion at Fensterbau Frontale 2020 in Nuremberg on 18-21 March 2020.  

James Lee, GGF Director of External Affairs enthused, “Following last year’s outstanding success, our planning and promotion has now started and we are aiming to make the UK Pavilion at Fensterbau 2020, the best one yet.
I encourage all interested companies to contact us early to ensure they don’t miss out on an opportunity to exhibit at the world’s biggest window and door show.”

Though many of the co-exhibitors from last year’s UK Pavilion have expressed an interest in re-booking their stand space, the GGF is holding a provisional Fensterbau meeting on 13^th June at the GGF offices and welcomes all those interested in co-exhibiting on the GGF UK Pavilion.

Having exhibited at Fensterbau since 2014, the GGF UK Pavilion is now a fixture and feature of the show and has become one of, if not the, key destination for visiting companies wanting to either sell into the UK or buy UK products for their own markets.  

As per previous years, the GGF will fully undertake the administration and organisation for all co-exhibiting companies and as before, the GGF will promote the whole event in the six months leading up to the event.
GGF Members as part of their membership benefits will be given a special discounted rate of 20% off the co-exhibiting costs.

With just under two weeks until the inaugural Fabricators Forum, BFRC is pleased to announce that there are still a few spaces available for this unique industry event.

The BFRC Fabricators Forum takes place on Thursday 31^st January at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Madejski Stadium in Reading. Registration and refreshment is from 9.45am with the event starting at 10.30am and running until 4pm with lunch in between.

It promises to be a day of high quality debates with the five expert speakers leading on the key issues affecting our industry.

The line-up of speakers includes:

Luke Adams (Sector Manager of Fenestration, BBA) shows how testing and certification is crucial to proving product performance to your customers.

Gareth Jones (Managing Director, Profine UK) presents on three specific industry issues, focusing on skills and training, materials in the supply chain and misinformation in the industry.

The Fabricators Forum is gathering real momentum with many of the industry’s major players already booked to take part in a day of high quality discussions on the key issues affecting the glazing supply chain.

The GGF and its group of commercial subsidiaries are getting ready for The FIT Show with big plans to promote all six GGF group companies at the show.

Since The FIT Show started in 2013, the GGF and its commercial companies – FENSA, BFRC, GGFi, RISA and Borough IT, have participated at the UK glazing industry’s largest trade fair.

James Lee, GGF Director of External Affairs commented, “Once again, we are looking forward to being part of this superb three day event. During the FIT Show, we will be promoting many of our key benefits and services from across the GGF Group with particular focus in training for the installers.”

The GGF Group stand (No.F40) is located next to the Seminar Theatre where the GGF, FENSA and BFRC have plans to present seminars each day on; training the industry, the importance of fire safety, how energy ratings prove product performance and the value of certifying installations.

Anda Gregory, Managing Director of the GGF commercial companies commented, “This will be my first FIT Show and I am really looking forward to it. We have several exciting campaigns planned for the GGF’s commercial companies this year and they will be highlighted at The FIT Show.”
