The Heritage Window Group is a specialist group within the GGF Membership that addresses the issues around glazing in conservation areas and heritage buildings

Heritage Windows

The GGF formed the Heritage Group in 2016 due to the developing problems GGF members were facing when trying to install modern windows and doors inHeritage Building and in Conservation Areas. Today the Group meets every quarter to discuss issues such as planning, local authority decisions, design and restrictions on installation.

The advantages of installing modern windows and doors in conservation areas and heritage buildings:

• improves thermal insulation and home comfort
• can improve the building’s appearance with products that look identical to the original windows and doors easier to maintain and clean
• helps reduce carbon emissions, using modern energy-efficient windows improve the environment
• can be more affordable than replacing the original materials with modern materials more sustainable and durable than original windows and doors
